Our Story

Su Casa Mexican Restaurant has been a beloved fixture of Midvale, Utah since 1978. For over 45 years, our family-owned restaurant at 6878 S State Street has served the community with authentic Mexican food made from scratch using recipes perfected over decades. What started as one man's passion for bold, homemade flavors has grown into a multigenerational tradition that thousands of families across the Salt Lake Valley call their favorite.

Our founder, Fred Osterloh, was a lifelong restaurateur with a deep love for Mexican cuisine. Before opening Su Casa, Fred spent years traveling across Mexico and the American Southwest, tasting, learning, and carefully refining recipes that would eventually become the backbone of our menu. He brought that experience to several successful restaurants — including Frederico's, Fred's Burger Chalet, and his first Mexican restaurant, El Sol — before channeling everything he'd learned into Su Casa in June of 1978.

The Osterloh Family Legacy

From the very beginning, Su Casa was a family affair. Fred's commitment to quality — homemade salsas, hand-rolled enchiladas, slow-simmered chile verde — set the standard that the Osterloh family continues to uphold today. When Fred retired in 1999, the restaurant was passed down to his youngest son, Michael Osterloh, who carried on the tradition with the same care and dedication. Today, Su Casa operates under the stewardship of Denice Osterloh, who ensures that every plate leaving the kitchen lives up to the recipes and values Fred established nearly five decades ago.
